daybreak

November 16, 2008

since the election i have spent seven days in virginia — the first concert after the election was at ashland coffee and tea just north of richmond — train tracks run right by the venue and almost every time i’m there a train goes by while i am singing
crazy in alabama” — the same thing happened this time except — the train thundered by through two songs — “galaxie 500” and “crazy” — and i think everyone knew it wasn’t the same old train coming through — i hope everyone will take time to read the langston hughes poem, “daybreak in alabama” —

moonpie dreaming,
