since the election i have spent seven days in virginia — the first concert after the election was at ashland coffee and tea just north of richmond – train tracks run right by the venue and almost every time i’m there a train goes by while i am singing
“crazy in alabama” — the same thing happened this time except — the train thundered by through two songs — “galaxie 500″ and “crazy” — and i think everyone knew it wasn’t the same old train coming through — i hope everyone will take time to read the langston hughes poem, “daybreak in alabama” –

This is my first blog post. It happens to be my birthday. Thanks so much for the facebook, myspace, and snail mail birthday greetings. Speaking of snail mail, I went to the PO today which was dedicated by Jimmy Carter in 1978. (See Photo) That reminds me, I hope everyone has voted or is planning to on election day this upcoming Tuesday.
